Checking your browser…
The check runs in your browser and takes about five seconds.
IP location by DB-IP. How this test works.
Direct answer
Your IP address is the address that websites see for your connection. From it, sites look up a location and the network that owns it. They also compare the location with the time zone and language of your browser: a mismatch is a common sign of a proxy or VPN.
What sites learn from your IP address
- Location: the country, region and city that the address is registered to. The location is an estimate and can be wrong by a few hundred kilometers.
- Network owner: the internet provider or company that owns the address.
- Network type: a home or mobile provider, or a data center. Many sites show more captchas to data center addresses, because VPNs, proxies and bots use them.
- Time zone: the zone of the location. Sites compare it with the clock of your browser.
If you use a proxy
A residential or mobile proxy looks like a normal visitor. A data center proxy is fast and cheap, but sites know these networks. In both cases, set the time zone and language of the browser to fit the proxy location.
Questions
Why is my IP location wrong?
IP location databases use the registration and routing data of the network. Mobile networks and some providers register large blocks in one city, so the location can be far from you.
Do you log my IP address?
No. The server reads your address to show it to you and does not store it.
